The “Achieving STEMM Equity and Excellence in the Technology Industry” event was held on May 23, 2023, in Santa Monica, California, hosted by Snap Inc. The event focused on promoting equity and excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medicine (STEMM) within the technology industry. It featured a keynote address by Kei Koizumi from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, a panel discussion on equity in technology, and a workshop that delved into the national strategy for STEMM equity, discussing K-12 educator preparation, industry workforce development, and data tracking for equity progress. The event concluded with a networking reception and an augmented reality experience.
Director of Programming, Korene Stuart, was present at the event to acknowledge G{Code}’s new partnership with the STEMM Opportunity Alliance and further its mission of ensuring equity in education and supporting underrepresented women and non-binary individuals as they enter the tech workforce. G{Code}’s partnership with the STEMM Opportunity Alliance will bring further awareness to our mission and assist us in our fight for equity in tech.
The event was pivotal for fostering dialogue and collaboration among industry leaders and experts in addressing diversity and inclusion in STEMM. Such efforts are vital for driving innovation and making sure that technological advancements are reflective of and beneficial to all communities.
