Outside of her studies, Alyssa enjoys discovering new restaurants in NYC and spending time with her family and her Samoyed, Ella.

Aleah

Aleah (they/them) graduated from Pomona College in 2024 with a degree in religious studies and gender and sexuality. Their interest in technology began after taking a class called “Coding Poetry,” where they learned to create interactive poems using p5.js. Aleah is particularly drawn to creative coding and the intersections between art and technology. In their free time, they enjoy baking, reading graphic novels, and watching cartoons.

Aaliyah

Hi! My name is Aaliyah, I am from Newark, NJ. I graduated college with a Bachelors degree and majored in Graphic Design and Business. I have multiple hobbies including, drawing, painting, crocheting, anything that is creative, I love it! I became interested when I was introduced to tech by my cousin in law, I wasn’t at first but once he informed me of front end, I then became intrigued.

CHAYA

My name is Chaya, and I’m from Boston. I am an African American and Jamaican woman. Before entering my current program, my only tech background was an introductory IT course I took after choosing IT as my major in college at UMass Boston. Through this program and my current classes, I’m diving deeper into the tech world and discovering new aspects of the field. While I’m still exploring specific career paths, I’m sure I want to merge my people skills with a tech career, ideally one that blends technology with community impact or user-centered solutions.

LEEDA

I graduated from UC San Diego in 2022 with a degree in Global Health and a minor in Urban Studies and Planning. In my free time, I like to hang out with friends or volunteer in my community. I am interested in exploring how we can use UX/UI to design websites for use in the healthcare and public health fields that improve the patient experience and effectively convey information and resources to its website audience.

HUONG

As a graduate student in math, I am passionate about learning the subject and teaching my collective knowledge to others. That would be amazing if I can make a website to share the beauty of math to all learners and give them the joyful experience of understanding the subject. There are a couple of options I am looking into as my future endeavors. One is to create websites or software products for small businesses so that they can easily reach and connect with their customers. Besides that, I enjoy working with and understanding data in finance and biology. I would love to learn more about career options related to it.

HESPER

Hesper (they/she) is from East Los Angeles, California but their family moved to Dallas, Texas a few years ago. They currently reside in Boston, Massachusetts and have been adoring the change of seasons! During her time in college she conducted research on insects (doing so replaced her ick of bugs with a great fondness and curiosity instead) and was proactive in the Biology Department’s inclusivity initiatives. Some of their favorite pastimes include reading, crafting, watching tv shows, and exploring ethereal places in nature! As a first generation, low income student and progeny of Vietnamese refugees, they’re deeply passionate about health equity and supporting marginalized people. She’s still figuring out where her next step in life will take her, but hopes to utilize their background and the skills developed at G{Code} to address health inequities from a social justice lens. Advancements in technology often neglects or actively harms vulnerable communities, so bridging the gaps in tech, healthcare, and vulnerable populations is intrinsic to their future aspirations.

Gloria

My name is Gloria Zawadi Mutongi. I’m a sophomore at Bennett College, an all-women HBCU in North Carolina, majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in technology. I’m originally from Kenya, but I’ve lived in Charlotte, North Carolina, for almost five years now. I’m exploring the tech industry and finding each new thing engaging and exciting. While I’m open-minded about my future path, I’m especially interested in deepening my tech knowledge and exploring all the possibilities in this field. Outside of tech, I love reading and am also interested in perfumery, I’m even saving up to start making my own perfumes someday.
